... until they start to open their beautiful blossoms a little later.

For a brief moment a Nandu and a Guanaco posing side by side infront of another stunning backdrop.

Some Marsh-Marigold right beside a creek.

From time to time we had an encounter with these cheeky parrots.

No rest for the ladies. And also no rest the gentleman, of course ;)

We set up our tent in this lovely little wood.

Cerro Fitz Roy is a 3,406 meters high granite tower in the Argentinian-Chilean Andes. The native American Indians, the Tehuelche, call the mountain „Chaltén“ which means „The Smoker“, because of the clouds, that can be often seen surrounding the summit. The non-native name „Fitz Roy“ comes from the name of the captain Robert FitzRoy of the HMS Beagle ship which Charles Darwin used for his famous exploration journey to South America, Galapagos and New Zealand between 1831 and 1836.

The nights in the park were pretty frosty, so we deeply enjoyed warming moments like during this wonderful morning as the sun finally came up.

Alpine summer days

Friday, 20 November 2015

I think this grey and rainy November day is a good one to share some summer memories ;) This summer Sabine and me, we did some multi-day trips in the Austrian mountains. We always really enjoy spending our time out in these few last slightly touched areas of Austria and so I would like to share some impressions of these days in my blog today. Hope you like them.

Alpine summer days

My girl and I, we spent a week in March in Italy. Actually we went there for mountain biking and hiking. I took this image during a coastal hike at the Cinque Terre National Park. I was thrilled by the patters the harsh afternoon sun created on the surface of the sea.

Two females and two subadults guarded by a big mountain bull.

The second series of my rut 2017 images will be displayed here soon and of course I would be pleased if you'll take a look at them too. Cheers.

Since the sun came up behind this particular slope quite late, the light was already very harsh.

A tiny spider on one of these big flowers during early dawn.

Life in the autumn larches close to the timber line.

The rising sun put a smile on our faces ;)

Conditions like these are always a great subject which shows up in countless shapes.

Days of testosterone part II

Saturday, 11 March 2017

So here‘s the second part of my 2016 red deer rut photographs. Same locations and background as in my last little rut-write-up. And since I‘m a little tired today, and I actually have no big story to tell, you will only find a very few words. Hope you agree and the images speak for themselves.

Days of testosterone part II

It’s actually an exception to see one of the ladies alone at this time of the year.

I’m already in anticipation for the rutting season this year and curious what will lie ahead of me. Hopefully also some memorable moments like I could experience in 2016 … Thanks again to all of you for your interest and taking a look at my work :) Good night.

There’re also other volcanos beside Lanín in the area, like the one which created this lava field. Unfortunately I don’t know its name.

Spring patterns of beauty part I

Monday, 13 June 2016

Before I‘ll continue with the second set of bird images of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park, I would like to show the first series of my little chess flower trilogy. In April I was out again for a couple of days to experience and to photograph these lovely flowers which are among the most graceful plants I actually know. Although I’ve seen this flowers already a few times in the past years, I was instantly and completely fascinated by their appearance. They are so charming, it's actually hard to believe they aren't designed by children for their favorite fairy tales.

You can see one of the countless arms of Jostedalsbreen glacier as the top of it was lit up by the first sun. This one is called Nigardsbreen.

We experienced a pretty cool sunset on our last day there …

This rather steep slope is probably my favorite place to photograph these orchids.

A second set of Lady's Slipper images will appear here sooner or later, so if you liked this one, your inveted to come back one day ;) Thanks.

First soft signs of spring in soft blurred focus.

Another image with the reflection of the sun on the water surface in the background. I created this one by photographing two aligned flowers. One right infront of my lens and the other one in focus.

The primeval forests of the park are important habitats for a diverse plant- and wildlife. And the wild fuchsias especially caught our eyes. Not least, because we could observe hummingbirds noshing on their blossoms from time to time.

After five years of photography and experiencing countless sunrises, I still enjoy every single one like it’s my first one.

Dew, dew, dew. This time about half an hour before sunrise.

The very last glow of the day reflects on the water surface of Lake Neusiedl.
