BioPhoto Contest 2023

Quite a bit delayed, I'm still excited to let you know, that two of my images have been awarded at the BioPhoto Contest. The awardees have already been announced a few months back, but I just didn't find the time to do this little post. Both pictures have been taken up in the mountains of the High Tauern National Park on the Carinthian side and both show wildife in its habitat as a silhouette.

Mighty Moment displays a majestic alpine ibex in front of Mount Großglockner, which is the highest summit in Austria.

Eclipse Escape shows an European wheatear as it takes off right infront of the sun, which struggles to break through the fast moving clouds.

Bildband Natürliche Nähe - Crowdfunding!

Der Bildband zu meinem Langzeitprojekt Natürliche Nähe geht nun im August 2023 endlich in Druck. Nach mittlerweile zwölfjähriger Arbeit an dem Projekt kann ich es kaum erwarten das Buch in Händen zu halten und auszuliefern. In dem Werk steckt neben einer gewaltigen Portion Arbeit eine ganze Menge Herzblut meinerseits. Genauere Infos und Details zum Buch finden sich hier online.

Die hohen Kosten für den Cradle to Cradle zertifizierten hochqualitativen Druck sind ohne finanzielles Verschulden für mich momentan leider nicht zu stemmen und daher habe ich eine 30-tägige Crowdfunding Kampagne zur Kostenbewältigung realisiert. Neben dem Buch können dort auch verschiedene Dankeschöns zum Projekt erworben werden. Eure Unterstützung bei der Kampagne ist für die Verwirklichung des Buches und für mich persönlich ganz essentiell und ich bedanke mich von ganzem Herzen bei all jenen, die mir ihren Support zukommen lassen aber auch bei all jenen, die die Kampagne weiterverbreiten und die entscheidende Crowd damit vergrößern :) Danke!

Glanzlichter 2023

I'm happy to announce that my image Painted Patience, showing a very well known location in a rather special light, was awarded at this year's Glanzlichter competition in the Magnificent Wilderness category. The image is a good example, that patience and persistence often pay off in nature photography.

Actually I was already on my way home, but I decided to stop for a little rest on this location, to enjoy the landscape. The sky was cloud covered and grey for hours already, but somehow I didn't dare to leave. So in the end I spent two hours there just unsuccessfully hoping for the sun to break through for a moment but this didn't happen until the sun finally set. Right as it ultimately went down for this particular day, the clouds opened for a brief moment and provided this surreal alpenglow.
