The haunted – Norway part VII
Friday, 11 March 2016
Now this is my final set of Norway images. A set with strong and very mixed emotions. I was thinking of writing a longer article this time, but finally decided not to do this yet. Since years I have countless thoughts and statements about hunting in my mind and I’ll write them down one day. But it will take me some time to organize these thoughts and commit them to paper in a proper way.
Beside the omnipresent autumn colors, I especially love the foggy conditions you can find quite often at this time of the year. They can create such an amazing shadowy and surreal atmosphere and they can also make a really great white background when you‘re located a little bit outside the heavy fog. And moreover, when the sun fuses with some soft fog, the light is always stunning. Have a good one :)
Almost all of the ibexes I followed these days were adult bucks. On the one hand they are more exciting to photograph and more important one the other hand the younger ones are much shier and they didn’t feel comfortable in my presence. Although a big buck can weight up to 100 kg and even more, they are extremely peaceful and gentle creatures …
I will now finish my first part at this point. If you’re curious about the second one, make sure to drop by here during the next days. Bye for now!
Stitched vistas
Thursday, 10 August 2017
Actually I don't know why I was never really into doing panorama images (and I'm still not that much), but this year it seems like I start to enjoy them a little more than I did. So these days every now and then I stitch some pictures for a wider view and I would like to display some of the results (which I haven't already shown in another former posting) now here in my blog. All the pictures you can see here were made in Austria in 2017 and actually none of them was planned.
Cozy days part I – Patagonia part II
Friday, 3 February 2017
For our last stay in Patagonia we decided to go to Argentina‘s Lanín National Park. It was created in 1937 to protect and preserve an important area of Andean-Patagonian Forests, especially the Monkey Puzzle Trees, the Raulí and the Roble Beech, which in Argentina are exclusive in this national park. The park is named after its impressive and picture-perfectly shaped volcano Lanín. This inactive volcano is about 3,700 meters high and stretches also onto chilean land into the Villarrica National Park. Since our trip came slowly to an end at this point we took it easy and spent about one relaxing week there. We only drove very short distances and just took moderate day hikes.
Cleaning up
Saturday, 23 May 2015
Bad weather means time for cleaning up. And cleaning up means posting ;) So be prepared for wild mix of images I took this spring and which I forgot of or which didn’t fit into any of the former blog entries. You’ll see pictures taken in Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic in chronological order.
Montane moments
Tuesday, 4 April 2017
The High Tauern National Park isn't only Austria's biggest one, it's also the oldest national park here. Established already back in 1981, just one year after I came into this world. And more important, among other things, due to its age, size and the inaccessibility of large parts it's probably the wildest place you can find in Austria, I guess. So there would be so much more to explore, I still haven't yet. Because when I go there I'm actually always focused on alpine ibexes or maybe on the red deer rut in autumn. Nevertheless this place is always good for some rather unexpected encounters and moments and sometimes the one or another experience apart from my main proposals finds its way into my camera. You will find some of them in this blog entry.
