Although the Lanín National Park is big and, as far as I know, also rather popular among Argentines, we could enjoy the place on our own. We only met a handful of people during our whole stay. Probably because we’ve been there around Christmas. Actually the only humans we met were people of the native Mapuche communities who already lived in this territory before the creation of the park.
This was the first series of images from Lanín National Park. Hope you could enjoy them and you will be back here soon for the second set. See you!
Norway indeed offers plenty of great landscapes and hiking opportunities. And lots of them are very easy and safely to discover. As long as you don’t care about rain, wind, snow and the cold ;)
As almost always, I didn’t hide myself in a tent or something similar. I just used the natural camouflage of the lush green leaves of summer. Furthermore I like shooting through objects and all the leaves created some interesting opportunities to frame the birds even though I had to focus manually most of the time.
No exhausting hikes, no jaw dropping images and no thrilling adventures, but a great place to stroll around, take it easy, go swimming and listen to the sounds of nature.
Which of all the awarded images will finally be chosen as the category winners and as the overall winner will be announced at the ceremony in Spain in October. Let's see.
That’s it. See you soon, have a great time meanwhile everyone!
Cerro Torre and around part I - Patagonia part XII
Thursday, 27 April 2017
Although you could already find lots of images taken in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park and a seperate set of Fitz Roy here, I didn't show images of Cerro Torre yet. Beside Fitz Roy the about 3,130 meters high Cerro Torre is the second oustanding and very famous granite summit in Los Glaciares. Both of them are highly impressive and of jaw-dropping rough beauty. But I guess I prefer the shape of Fitz Roy a little more. Whatever ;) All of the pictures of Cerro Torre you can see here have been taken around Camp de Agostini which is about 10km of hiking away from El Chaltén. We spent some wonderful days based in the camp and of course I was busy taking images of the scenery up there. Furthermore you can also see a handful of images I took on other locations in Los Glaciares or just along the way in the national park.
Pannonian spring impressions
Monday, 30 January 2017
So, after my first part of Patagonia I would like to continue with something quite different and probably way less spectacular: A few impressions from Austria’s easternmost national park called Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel. I already took all these images in April 2016 when I was there for the last time. Although the national park is mostly known for its diverse birdlife, the place also offers a lot to discover beside birds like orchids, mammals and its unique landscape with all these shallow lakes.
Spring patterns of beauty part III
Monday, 11 July 2016
Since I'm still working on my winter and spring pictures I guess today it's time for the third and last set of my 2016 chess flower images. All photographs of this blog entry have been taken in Styria in the South of Austria. Nothing more to say, enjoy :)
This unexpected sighting of one of the extremely rare bearded vultures, during my last alpine ibex trip in the mountains of the High Tauern National Park, was probably one of my most exciting and lucky bird experiences this year. These spectacular birds of prey can grow up to a wingspan of 2.85m. Thanks again for watching, have a great and sunny Sunday everyone!
Spring deer impressions
Friday, 15 May 2015
During my time out taking images and looking for new photo opportunities this spring I ran into some deer from time to time. Sometimes a little bit on purpose, sometimes just accidentally. But since, due to all the hunting, both Roe Deer and Red Deer are extremely shy and nocturnal, it’s rather difficult to photograph them. Especially with a f 5.6 lens ;) As mostly I tried to show the animals in their habitat and to capture the mood of the overall scene.
