A pheasant in the red light of the very first sun. You can find them almost everywhere here in spring.
Every now and than we encountered a fox. Since I'm still very unsuccessful when it comes to fox photography in Austria, I was very delighted about these moments.
Waiting for the roe deer. No, it didn’t appear ;)
A chamois just having a look after a snowy night in early June.
The peak of one of the countless summits of the Andes crashing into this small herd of guanacos at sunset.
Very delightful early morning conditions after some hours of hiking. The Patagonian landscapes really offer an enormous range of stunning vistas.
A blind shot taken in almost complete darkness at ISO16000, f2.8, 1/5sec. I really like how this image turned out, because for me it represents the conditions, in which the human eye actually fails, very well. Luckily I could clearly hear his screams, so I had an idea where the bull is located.
Since in December there is early summer in Patagonia most of the flowers were in full bloom. Especially in Lanín National Park we came across lots of these graceful lilies.

Alpine ibexes. I just love to photograph them. So far they are probably my favorite subject to capture. And although I have been in their kingdom for only four times yet, I can say that they are my most productive project and I think they could be my “main project” for the next couple of years. Let’s see … This year I’ve been up in the mountain areas of Austria’s High Tauern National Park one time at the end of May, where I still experienced snowy conditions on some days, and one time at the end of June. It’s incredible how fast everything is changing and coming to life in only one month. The mountain summers are short indeed.
Even when the sun is already higher up in the sky, the light can be absolutely pretty.
Briksdalsbreen glacier, another glimpse of Jostedalsbreen.
Arrival in front of Lake Neusiedl.
The Martagon Lily is probably one of the most underrated flowers in nature photography. As far as I know they are not nearly that popular than the Lady’s Slipper Orchid or Chess Flowers, but in my opinion they’re not less beautiful at all.
One of those extremely shy birds placed itself in this gorgeous spring setting.
Oxlips again. This spring I was especially looking for this kind of flowers-infront-of-a-stream setting.
Spring flowers actually can be found almost everywhere. Sometimes you might just have to take a closer look. All shown pictures have been made in the woods, wetlands and on the meadows pretty close to my home. Hope you'll drop by here again for the second and third set. See you!
On all the days with heavy winds the charismatic woods of this region are always a great place to take a rest.
A hare in a frost covered meadow in Upper Austria. Not one of the friendliest spring mornings, but with good conditions for photography.
Although the wetland bulls are bigger than the ones on higher sea level, the rut in the mountains is actually more exciting.
A sea of color in a rocky environment.
It took me a whole day of running up and down this stream to find a composition which at least pays a little justice to the magic of this place. All the different mystic trees and lichen covered bushes growing on the rocky ground made this area so special. Finally I hiked up to this location four times to get some sweet conditions. I certainly couldn't manage to capture all the beauty of this place, but I guess this is my best attempt.
It took my quite some time to wait for this starling to place himself on that branch, but finally the patience payed off.
An image of one of the first sunny spring evenings of 2016 I can remember.
Happy to see my image displayed in this great exhibition :) (© Mirko Destro, Asferico)
Main floor part I – Norway part III

During our Norway journey this late summer we spent about ten days in Rondane National Park. The landscapes there are really kind of otherworldly and despite the fact that you can also encounter some wonderful wildlife like moose, my focus there was on landscape photography. I will show a second part of Rondane landscape images here later.
There's nothing better than the red warming sunlight after a cold night.
Can you also smell all the bear’s garlic ;)
A lonely Nandu in the open land of the Pampa in fornt of the Patagonian skies. An impressively big bird.
Dramatic conditions on the other side of the valley.
One of the first guys I was able to photograph in the wetlands.
