Alpine ibexes part I

Sunday, 14 June 2015

This year at the end of May I went up into the mountain areas of the High Tauern National Park in Carinthia to spend some time with the alpine ibexes for my second time. The first time I did this was back in August 2014 and this was actually one of my most exciting and delightful photography trips I ever made. So I was really looking forward to my experiences this year. I decided to split my ibex entries into four parts and to completely mix up all the images. Hope you all agree with that ;)

Still in love part II

Wednesday, 12 July 2017

Today I would like to share some of my promised bird pictures I was able to take during my last visits at Upper Austria's gorgeous Lake Almsee. As mostly I also tried to capture a bit of the beautiful surroundings and the particular moods when I created the images. And, as already mentioned, especially in this area the whole setting is quite lovely.

Final mix part I - Patagonia part XV

Tuesday, 30 May 2017

Slowly but surely my Patagonia blog entries will come to an end. I would only like to show two more posts here. Both of them will be filled with various pictures which actually didn't make it into any of the former series. Most of them are not that spectacular and maybe more documentary style, but all of them are part of my enriching and unforgettable memories I was able to collect in these two month in one of the world's probably most beautiful places.

Homelandscapes part I

Friday, 7 April 2017

Ok, I have to admit, that most of the Austrian landscapes probably cannot keep up with the Patagonian ones, but nevertheless I would like do display some not yet shown impressions I took in (Upper) Austria last year. Hope you’re not too spoiled already and still corious what you can find here ;)

Homelandscapes part I

I guess the Nahuel Huapi National Park would have also been an amazing place to explore during a longer stay, but we only passed it on our way to Lanín. One cannot have it all.

Dawn in the woods. On this particular slope I found quite a lot of the flowers.

At the shore of lake Grünsee.

The first signs of the first spring flowers. Snowdrops in bud on a frosty morning.

Another lovely creature of the fjell.

Autumn beat part II

Mixed landscapes part I – Norway part V

Wednesday, 10 February 2016

Although our trip to Norway was already five months ago, I still have some impressions of this wonderful country, I would like to post here. We’ve been there in August and September last year and we deeply enjoyed the countless opportunities for easy and moderate hikes. There’s just so much open land that lays infront of you and waits to be explored. And due to the fact, that there are actually no thunderstorms, which could be dangerous in the higher areas, we could do hikes in every weather without any risk. You can only get wet. Or snowbound ;) So we had the chance to wander around in the highlands during all these fast changing conditions the Norwegian weather has to offer. And of course, very changeable conditions are always exciting and a great opportunity for photographers. I think I’ve never seen as many rainbows as during this journey.

Totally exciting alpen glow during this wonderful morning.

An other day ends with a gorgeous sky.

They rule these mountains. No doubt.

Spring disco part III

Saturday, 3 June 2017

Here's my long overdue third set of early spring flower images. I'm sorry for the delay, but the longer and greener the days become and the more images I make, the less time I'm working behind my monitor ... ;) So I hope you're all still in the mood for some Snowdrops, Hepaticas and such.

Hellebores are definitely among the very first wildflower which can already be found in very early spring ...

Fire 'n' ice – Patagonia part VII

Tuesday, 21 March 2017

Today I would like to post a handful of impressions only taken at two different locations and in very short time. Pictures made in one evening at the famous Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina’s Los Glaciares National Park and some images I took about 1,600 km away during one particular morning at the coast of Punta Pardelas on Valdés Peninsula. The pictures only show some closer frames of the icy giant and the magic that happens, when strong winds, the sea and the morning sun meet. And since their appearance is either very cold or very warm, I decided to bring them together.

Fire

A perfect scenery for a silhouette lover like me, as a bugling bull crossed this ridge in the early morning.

When the light conditions are suitable, low-key images like this can be made.

Probably my favorite couple this year ;)

The warm light of the setting sun illuminates the blooming flowers.

The cool thing about beech trees is, that some of them never lose their foliage. Even in winter.

… along the gravel road.

Extremely wind conditions like we experienced in Rondane most of the time ensure awesome cloud and light situations like in this particular morning.

A subadult woodpecker enjoys a cherry which was given to him by one of his parents.

After some rest in front of Austria’s highest mountain, Mount Großglockner (3.798m), they get up to move on again.

Gentle audience part I

Thursday, 27 July 2017

Also this season I visited both locations I know where the Lady's Slipper Orchids can be found. Actually I was quite unsuccessful in the Upper Austrian habitat but luckily it worked a little better in the Lower Austrian area. So you will only find images of Lower Austria here. Without a doubt these flowers are the undisputed queens of Austrian orchids and once more their stunning beauty and surreal shape fascinated me.
