Going east - New gallery

Monday, 16 May 2022

About two weeks ago, I did a short nine day trip to three of Austria's six national parks, running a workshop, working on my archives and an upcoming exhibition (more on that soon). After I spent two nights at the Gesäuse National Park, I hit the road at night to arrive at the Neusiedler See - Seewinkel National Park at dawn, where I finally stayed for four nights, before I went to the Donau-Auen National Park on my way back home. Of course, spring is a fantastic time to go to the Seewinkel and so I was quite happy to experience some more memorable moments. So, as of now you can find some of them in an other new temporary gallery, called the 2022 Seewinkel spring gallery. Enjoy :)

Going east - New gallery

A Ruff takes off during gorgeous afternoon light .

The European Tree Frog. Probably the cutest frog out there.

A Savi‘s Warbler performing its unmistakeable songs in the reed belt of Lake Neusiedl in the very early morning hours, as the moon rises in gorgeous tones of orange and red.

Unfortunately the water level decreases actually every year and so all the shallow lakes are already drying out in mid April.

The Eurasien Hoopoe. Definitely on of my favorite birds and always a great excitement to spot one.

I'm still super excited about my very first Red Deer sightings in the areas of this national park. As on most of my images, I recommend to have a pretty close look ;)

The beatuy of a bright day.

Avocets are just super graceful birds. Even more in beautiful evening light.

Valley of peace - New gallery

About a year ago, I made a few-days-spring-trip to the small but pretty lovely Thaya Valley National Park at the borders of Austria and the Czech Republic. Actually nothing spectacular, just a few cozy days in a gorgeous environment, I deeply enjoy ever time I go there. So, the next small temporary gallery is about this trip. If you're curious and would like to check it out, just take a look at this 2021 Thaya Valley gallery.

An European White Wagtail taking off from a rock on the Czech side of the Thaya River.

Some Lilies Of The Valley hidden in the rather dark forest of the park.

Fluffy Mute Swan chicks during one of their very first little explorations.

Gentle wilderness - New gallery

In early autumn 2021 Sabine and me, we spent about a month camping in Scandinavia with our son Tim and our unborn baby girl. Actually our main stay was in Norway, but we also spent some time in Sweden on our ways up and down. Of course, both countries are extremely rich of untouched wild places full of beauty and also perfect camping destinations, with endless treasures to discover and adventures to share, like observing moose, exploring wolf tracks or just light a campfire for breakfast after a frosty night. If you'd like to have a look at a few images I captured during that time, just follow this link to the temporary and hidden 2021 Scandinavia gallery. ... and, no worries, you won't find any family pics in the gallery, but I just couldn't resist to share a few in this blog post ;)

Gentle wilderness - New gallery

Mesmerizing cloud display in the Norwegian mountains at sunrise.

Literally countless wonderful lakes surrounded by gorgeous forests are waiting to be enjoyed.

Waterlilies and some kind of grass hit by the harsh light around noon.

Blue hour nearby one of Norway's numerous glaciers.

A picturesque rainbow above the distant glacier.

A quite huge moose bull approaching by crossing a rather shallow river in Norway.

Tim fooling around after having some delicious blueberries in Sweden.

I just love the way he's exploring and observing the surroundings, even in rather nasty weather conditions.

Endless playgrounds, full of experiences and adventures.
