Additional vistas part II

Saturday, 6 January 2018

Here we go with the second series of my additional landscape impressions of the last year. You can see images taken in Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Carinthia and Burgenland between April and October.

Additional vistas part II

A lovely early autumn evening during my scouting right before my workshop at Lake Almsee.

Gorgeous clouds early in the morning above beautiful colored waters during our great little two-day adventure with our fantastic niece.

Montane impression in a field of dew covered mountain pines.

Snapshot of a calm and relaxed birdwatching evening at Lake Neusiedl.

That's what the man behind the lens looks like ;) Me in the mountains of Carinthia. (© Sabine Fenzl)

Mystic foggy twilight at the Schiederweiher.

A nice view and beautiful colored grass above the autumn fog during the Red Deer rut.

The border between the Czech Republic and Austria which runs right in the middle of the Thaya River.

Last year I discoverd this new view to the summits of the Totes Gebirge in Upper Austria. And I experienced quite surreal colors that particular evening because of an extremely bright red big cloud right above me.

Thanks for looking again, hope you liked these impressions. The next posting will be about the second set of additional foliages. Bye for now!

Recap 2017

Saturday, 30 December 2017

Before this year finally comes to an end, it's time again to kind of recall my experiences and pictures and to show nine of my favorites. Since we haven't done any serious travelling, 2017 actually was a rather unspectacular year in terms of big adventures. But of course this doesn't mean that I didn't grab my camera as often as possible to go out and capture some moments of beauty in our natural world here in Austria, having in mind that we'll definitely go on a journey in 2018. And despite the fact, that I didn't visit that much stunning locations and didn't make that much images, it was for sure my most intense photographic year so far, with quite a few delightful smaller projects and lots of mostly pleasant work in the office. So all in all I'm quite happy how everything went this year but without a doubt we already got some itchy feet since our return from Patagonia (which was exactly a year ago to the day, by the way). So again I'm totally excited what will come our way in the near future and I'm very much looking forward to our next experiences out there.

Like I used to do it in all of my former yearly recaps, I will again give you some technical information about my favorite images. Of course it's pretty difficult to make a "true" selection of favorites. If I would make my choice tomorrow, the series would probably look different ... You can see the images in chronological order.

Additional wings part I

Thursday, 28 December 2017

Beside landscapes and plants, the third topic of my 2017 additional images are birds. I guess about 95% of my bird photographs are casual captures without any particular plans or visions. Since birds actaully can be found in almost every environment, I photograph them in lots of different conditions and places whenever a promising opportunity occurs.

Additional wings part I

A very pleasant and unexpected encounter in the wetlands of Upper Austria with this four adorable siblings.

The dark conditions and the poor light of dawn invited my to take some rather long exposed images of Cormarants in flight.

A Black Woodpecker hit gently by the very last rays of the setting sun.

Great Egret looking for prey in the lush and vivid floodpalins of the early summer.

Fantasic pastel light during a cloudless but quite cold sunrise at one of the countless shallow lakes of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park in East Austria.

Monochrome creatures in their colorful habitat.

I'm always eager for silhouettes, like this one of a Black Woodpecker, which is by far the biggest European woodpecker.

Little guy bringing great colors into a drab scenery.

A shorebird doing what it does best.

Hope you liked these impressions of our feathered friends ... Since 2017 already comes to an end, it would be the right time to choose my nine favorites of the last year and redisplay them here in my next entry. So, let's see ;)
