Wild water, steep rock part I

Saturday, 10 November 2018

Since I will lead two workshops next year in cooperation with the well-known Fotoschule Gesäuse (the new 2019 program will be online soon) at the Gesäuse National Park in Styria, Austria, I spent some more time in that area this year, especially in autumn. Actually I always wanted to get to know this place much better, because it offers really quite a bunch of great unaffected nature sceneries, wonderful vistas, beautiful flora and lots of wildlife. And of course I also did some (landscape) photography during my scouting trips in the national park. I would like to display some of these impressions here partitioned in three blog entries, so make sure to stop by here again soon for the next series.

Wild water, steep rock part I

Wild water ...

... steep rock.

Some fall foliage performs one last dance, before it will finally be washed away forever.

Beside the obviously great landscapes, the national park also hides countless little treasures.

Still one of my favorite experiences. A dew covered flower meadow during a sunny morning.

I experienced quite lovely conditions at this calssic view on this particular morning long before sunrise.

Due to the drought this summer and fall, the water level of the Enns River is very low, but because of that the color of the river is even more beautiful than normally.

The rising sun illuminates some of the numerous peaks of the area.

First signs of autumn along this rather small but untamed creek.

Beside my location scouting I also had the pleasure to visit the Gesäuse for some more days to judge the Austrian Nature Photographer of the Year 2018 hosted by the VTNÖ. You can check out the awarded images of these event here.

Due to the extremely dazzling light while shooting straight towards the sun I actually took this image blind with my eyes closed.
